October happens to be Mental Health Awareness month. How do you get over mental health hang-ups when it prevents you from getting help?  Boz Schurr is an art teacher at Kamehameha School. She explains how art therapy is a positive way to help young people open up and get assistance if they need it.

Her work will be featured at “Between Shadow and Light” a benefit for Mental Health America of Hawaii. It starts at 7 pm on October 18, 2018 at the Richards Street YWCA's Café Julia. Schurr will unveil her life-sized work created specifically for this event, “Umbra, Penumbra, and Antumbra (Shadows Cast by Celestial Bodies).”

Edith Piaff was just four feet and ten inches tall, but the tiny French artist left a huge mark in her home country and abroad. She died on this day more than 50 years ago. Her song “La Vie En Rose” is a French classic and this summer Paris based H?lau Hula O Manoa, paid  tribute to the Little Sparrow by sharing a hula at her gravesite in the historic cemetery Pere La Chaise.
