Government Transparency: Colin Moore
Particularly in this election cycle, government transparency is an issue that’s taken on additional meaning. Beyond the investigations, the headlines and campaign rhetoric, is the way many people get instant information actually creating a more transparent government? This week, the University of Hawai‘i Public Policy Center and the Civil Beat Law Center for the Public Interest is sponsoring a public forum to tackle that question. Specifically, the forum will look at initiatives that have increased government transparency and their application for better policymaking in Hawaii. Center director, Colin Moore’s with us this morning.

Sonny Silva and the Hot Club of Hulaville will be celebrating the troubadours of the sixties and seventies in an upcoming HOR concert.

News analyst Neal Conan gave us his take on the matter this morning.

Cultural traditions come full circle in Kauai’s Tahiti Fete, which celebrates the similarities -- and the differences between -- Tahitian and Hawaiian cultures. There’s no better way to understand these than through the immersion in the music, dance, and traditions of Tahiti that the Fete provides. It gets under way this week. Fran Tucker is a coordinator of the Kauai Tahiti Fete, which runs next weekend at Kapaa Beach Park.
