Kaimi Hermosura

For Kaimi Hermosura, the changes on Kaua‘i’s North Shore have been profound. He’s watched land and lifestyle shift from taro farming to high end homes, hotels and condos. He is also no stranger to protesting the legality of what his family and others have experienced. Over the weekend, he and a friend hoped to gather support from the community to protest the expansion of the Hanalei Golf & Beach Club.

Aesthetics of Hawai‘i Architecture: Don Goo

Don Goo

In 1959 as Hawai‘i became a state, a young man became an architectural draftsman for Wimberly and Cook. He was very good, and later became the President, CEO and Chairman of Wimberly, Allison, Tong and Goo. His eye for design over the last half century has led to the creation of the Hawai‘i Convention Center, the re-visioning of the Sheraton Maui, re-positioning of the Hilton Hawaiian Village, the iconic Waik?k? Bank of Hawai‘i Building, and numerous international projects. Don Goo will soon become only the seventh Architect to receive the American Institute of Architect’s Hawai‘i State Council’s Medal of Honor.

Scott Ohtoro

Last September, we talked with musician Scott Ohtoro as he was releasing a solo album. Since then, he and the hip hop collective, Super Groupers have “Learned to Swim” – that’s their new album. And meanwhile, Scott is back to work on his next solo album Kumamoto. And vinyl, well that’s a big part of music past. But it’s also a big part of music present and future; along with all the other digital media in the mix.
