Update on Kauai and Oahu flood relief programs: FEMA

The federal government is allowing those affected by flash flooding in Kauai and East Honolulu to apply for grants and low-interest loans to rebuild. The deadline is August 27th. Joining us in the studio is Dolph Diemont, FEMA’s federal coordinator for the flood relief program.

The Hawaii Island real estate market, like so many other things there, has been disrupted by the Kilauea eruption that has destroyed hundreds of homes. Displaced homeowners are besieging an already crowded real estate market -- even as they pay close attention to geologists’ maps of the volcano’s rift zones. HPR’s Hawai’i Island reporter Sherry Bracken has been talking with realtors in the Puna district and brings us the story.
