A poll conducted last week by location-based social network YikYak shows almost half of Bernie Sanders Millennial supporters would move to a third party, despite Sanders endorsement of Hillary Clinton. The survey asked 2000 Yakkers...YikYak is used almost exclusively Millennials. With Hawaii’s strong support of Bernie Sanders and the task of uniting the part falling to the chair of the Democratic Party of Hawaii, we called Tim Vandeveer to get his take on the poll and its implications for Hawaii.

Climate Change: Thomas Stocker
Over the next month, the International Pacific Research Center at the University of Hawaii is hosting s distinguished visitor. Professor Thomas Stocker is the former co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Working Group 1. He was the mastermind behind the group’s last which was the scientific backbone of the negotiations at the Paris Climate Change Conference negotiations late last year.

Not every musical has to be a feel-good story, but we tend to expect one from the genre, and when a musical play upends our expectations, the blend of songs and dialogue can be an effective way to send audiences home with something to think about. Next to Normal is a musical about mental illness and its effect on a family; Randall Shirley plays the father of a suburban family in the Aloha Performing Arts Company production of the show, and he’s with us this morning.
