Jeff W. Gates

U.S. Air Force Graphic_offutt.af.mil

We see mental illness when we walk or drive by the homeless on our streets and it touches us when someone we know has lost a loved one to suicide or we go through the loss ourselves.

The five most common mental health disorders include depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance abuse and attention deficit disorder ADD/ADHD.

Despite the stigma surrounding mental health illness, approximately 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. experiences mental illness in any given year.

Joining us today are:

  • Trisha Kajimura, Executive Dir. of the Hawaii Chapter of  Mental Health America
  • Kumi Macdonald, Executive Dir. of NAMI Hawaii
  • Adam Coles, Clinical Director of Maui Family Guidance Center
  • Wayne Law, Kauai Program Services Manager for Mental Health Kokua
