Quarantine for travelers and stay at home order for residents

It was a busy weekend as Hawaii Governor David Ige issued a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine for all travelers returning to Hawaii, and 3 of the counties setting up their own policies. HPR News Director Bill Dorman provides an update on the weekend's news.

National Guard gets ready

Across the country a handful of states have tapped the National Guard to help with the COVID-19 health crisis. In Hawaii, some have been called to help other state agencies. Brigadier General Moses Kaoiwi from the state Department of Defense tells us what's to come as our citizen soldiers are ramped up in the weeks to come.

Retooled policies could prevent jail overcrowding

Some Hawaii prosecutors are shifting the way they charge defendants to control the crowding of jails, especially at risk to the COVID-19 pandemic because of population density. Farmers markets as essential business

Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell has ordered residents to work and stay at home, except for essential businesses. Farmer markets has been included on that list of essential businesses. Brian Miyamoto, executive director of the Hawaii Farm Bureau, talks about keeping the supply line open and getting farmers products to market.
