Following up on yesterday's look at Les Six, I'm going back in time a little to a group of composers that influened them. The Five, or the Mighty Handful, a group of Russian composers, mostly amateur, developed a Russian sound in the nineteenth century. You'll hear music by Balakirev, Cui, Mussorgsky, Rimsky Korsakov and Borodin, as well as composers who influenced or were influenced by them.
