It’s been exactly one month since the big nationwide point in time count. The program is one of many ways to track our progress in helping homeless people get on their feet and into housing. During this time the City has moved to beef up its enforcement in areas where illegal campers have taken over public spaces but new legal issues have popped up. We keep hearing reports of people living in their vehicles--which is illegal here on Oahu. How do we deal with that?
Joining us at the table on our call-in show the state’s Homeless coordinator Scott Morishige and the Big islands Brandy Manino whose non- profit provides homeless services and whose reach expands to the neighbor islands of Maui and Kauai.
We invite you to talk with us about your experience with housing and homelessness. Is it getting better where you live work and play? or is it getting worse?
Our guests today were:
Brandee Menino, Chair of Bridging the Gap, Neighbor Islands’ Continuum of Care, and of Hope Services Hawaii
Scott Morishige, theGovernor's Coordinator on Homelessness
Carol Fukunaga, Honolulu City Councilmember, District 6
