Bridging the Gap~November 19th, 2019: HPR + HIFF Episode 3: Jahchong

@jahchong's Instagram

There are a few people in this world that I call by their Instagram handles and Jahchong is one of them. He's also the featured guest selector on tonight's 3rd installment of my HPR + HIFF collaboration.

Justyn Ah Chong is an award-winning Native Hawaiian filmmaker from O?ahu. An alum of USC's School of Cinematic Arts, he filmed and edited a variety of projects at ??iwiTV such as the award winning feature documentary "Mele Murals."

Justyn had his directorial debut with his acclaimed film "Down on the Sidewalk in Waik?k?"(which starred episode 2's guest selector, ??ina Paikai) which won second place in the Best Made In Hawai?i Short at this year's HIFF Awards Gala. He is currently producing two short narrative films, "Hawaiian Soul" and "E M?lama Pono Willy Boy" and is also in early development for his second short narrative and first feature narrative which he will write and direct. He continues to share culturally-inspired, place-based stories through his production company, Olon? Media

Jahchong's selections for tonight's show has a vibe that's mainly soulful and mellow, with a couple rootsy tracks sprinkled in - music he can vibe to while editing, but also perfect for winding down the evening.
