Bridging the Gap- April 17th, 2017 (Calm before the Storm)

Ahhh, the quiet calm before the storm. Hawaii Public Radio's Spring 2017 Pledge Drive starts bright and early tomorrow morning, and I have a feeling that many of the shows will be pretty upbeat, so I'm taking the opportunity to embrace the little calm before all of the madness.

If you want to pledge early visit: bit.ly/isupporthpr

The special premium for Bridging the Gap is called dj mr.nick's "Bag-O-Swag".  It'll be available throughout the drive, but will really only be offered during my show.  Inside will be small keychain USB drive loaded with the best music pulled from the show, as well as a few DJ mixes collected from the last 6 months, including the 2 live sets recorded on Hawaii Island, and the opening set from the Parallax event at The Honolulu Museum of Art. Also throwing in a logo sticker and a button.

Nick Yee’s passion for music developed at an early age, as he collected jazz and rock records pulled from dusty locations while growing up in both Southern California and Honolulu. In college he started DJing around Honolulu, playing Jazz and Bossa Nova sets at various lounges and clubs under the name dj mr.nick. He started to incorporate Downtempo, House and Breaks into his sets as his popularity grew, eventually getting DJ residences at different Chinatown locations. To this day, he is a fixture in the Honolulu underground club scene, where his live sets are famous for being able to link musical and cultural boundaries, starting mellow and building the audience into a frenzy while steering free of mainstream clichés.
