Today is Black Friday – a day where many retailers see their margins go from the red into the black.

But this year more and more people are turning to the digital marketplace to gather up gifts.  AGooglesearch on holiday shopping reveals that last year- 40% of holiday shopping occurred online…with more than half of consumers using a smartphone or tablet.

More people are buying early with almost half of holiday shoppers getting the majority of their purchases before Cyber Monday.  Brad Klontz is a Kaua‘i based psychologist who studies trends in spending.  He says that sales and holiday shopping are a battle over your emotions.

The National Retail Federation says this holiday season will be comparable to last year.  Retail sales are expected to rise almost  4% with consumers spending an average of  around $800 on holiday merchandise.

Nick Yee’s passion for music developed at an early age, as he collected jazz and rock records pulled from dusty locations while growing up in both Southern California and Honolulu. In college he started DJing around Honolulu, playing Jazz and Bossa Nova sets at various lounges and clubs under the name dj mr.nick. He started to incorporate Downtempo, House and Breaks into his sets as his popularity grew, eventually getting DJ residences at different Chinatown locations. To this day, he is a fixture in the Honolulu underground club scene, where his live sets are famous for being able to link musical and cultural boundaries, starting mellow and building the audience into a frenzy while steering free of mainstream clichés.
