Attorney Naomi Kuwaye appointed to Public Utilities Commission

Gov. David Ige has appointed attorney Naomi Kuwaye to the three-member Public Utilities Commission.

If approved by the state Senate, Kuwaye will fill the seat currently held by PUC Chair James "Jay" Griffin. Griffin will step down at the end of his term in June.

Kuwaye has not been appointed chair of the commission. That is a separate decision to be made by Ige.

Kuwaye is an attorney with Ashford and Wriston. If confirmed, she will serve a six-year term from this July through 2028.

The PUC regulates all public utilities in the state.
