Maui County has set up a food and water distribution center for Upcountry residents still without power or water due to this week’s Kona Low weather system.

Kula still has electricity and water issues.

The Department of Water Supply continues to work on a water main break in Hapapa Gulch at Pulehu Road.

The Mayor Hannibal Tavares Center in Pukalani will be open until 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. Bottled water and non-perishable food will be distributed.

Power cords will also be available to charge mobile phones and other electronics, but residents are asked to bring their own USB chargers.

Water tankers are also stationed at Fong Store, Kula Community Center, Ulupalakua Ranch Office, Kula Fire Station, Rice Park and the Silversword Condominium Complex above Kula Lodge.

The Maui Electric Company has responded to scattered power outages around the island and has been joined by crews from Oʻahu. Affected customers are asked to prepare for an extended power outage because of multiple damaged and downed poles.
