Oiwi TV's Maui Tauotaha sets up his camera on board the Hikianalia. The sister canoe will serve as the technology hub, sending information and uploading the website via satellite.

There’s just one day left before H?k?le?a and its sister canoe Hikianalia leave Honolulu for Hilo. It won’t return for another 3 years, as it embarks on a 50,000 mile sail around the world. But crew members on board are hoping to share their journey with classrooms across the state. As HPR’s Molly Solomon reports, it’s an opportunity to educate a new generation.

For more information, visit the Learning Center on the Hokulea website.
