Helping Hand is a weekly feature on HPR1 stations statewide at 5:30 Fridays on All Things Considered and online here. Each week, Helping Hand puts the spotlight on an organization, topic or event in the community that offers assistance to the disabled and other folks in need with All Things Considered Local Host Dave Lawrence. This week we’re learning about the Epilepsy Foundation of Hawai‘i with Samantha West, their Executive Director.
According to their website, the Epilepsy Foundation of Hawai’i provides direct services to individuals with seizure disorders. For over 40 years, providing information and educational services to individuals and organizations interested in learning more about epilepsy. They go on to state that their mission is to stop seizures and Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), find a cure and overcome the challenges created by epilepsy through efforts including education, advocacy and research to accelerate ideas into therapies. They are there to assist people with epilepsy and their loved ones.
