“HI Fashion: The Legacy of Alfred Shaheen” at the Bishop Museum

Before Alfred Shaheen, there were mom and pop clothing makers in Hawai’i, but he spearheaded the industry.  Shaheen became a global brand designed, printed and produced right here---remember, Elvis wore a Shaheen on the  "Blue Hawai'i" cover.  HPR’s Noe Tanigawa offers an inside tour of “HI Fashion: The Legacy of Alfred Shaheen” at the Bishop Museum.

Courage and Strength: Portraits of Those Who Have Served at the Honolulu Museum, Part III

“Courage and Strength”, an exhibit at the Honolulu Museum, features portraits of America’s armed forces who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.   Asleep, or full face to the camera, these images hint at experiences civilians do not share.
