Become A Member
Hawaii Public Radio is a community-licensed, listener-supported
institution, which means that financial contributions from listeners like
you are our largest and most important source of funding. In fact,
nearly 60% of our budget comes from membership donations.
If you value the in-depth and insightful news programming and the
eclectic mix of music and entertainment that you hear every day on
Hawaii Public Radio, please consider becoming a member today. Call
Gene Evans at (808) 955-8821, email
members@hawaiipublicradio.org,
or go to the secure
HPR online pledge
form.
Multiply Your Contribution
Many businesses have matching gift programs for contributions their
employees make to community organizations. Please consider choosing
HPR as a beneficiary.
Simply obtain a matching gift form from the human resources
department at your company, and send it to HPR with your
contribution. Hawaii Public Radio is a registered 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization.

Volunteer
HPR relies on volunteers for a variety
of projects such as answering telephones during pledge drives
and other special projects and events throughout the year.
You'll get to see our on-air studios, meet the people who share
your interest in public radio, and participate in the
life of the station. It's a great way to meet people and gain an insight
into how it all comes together here at Hawaii Public Radio. You'll have
a great time as well.
Become an HPR volunteer today! Call Gene Evans at (808) 955-8821 or email
members@hawaiipublicradio.org.

You can deliver your donations for this sale to HPR during business
hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. HPR is located at 738

Make A Challenge Grant
During pledge drives, Hawaii Public Radio’s most successful
fundraising hours consistently occur when a challenge grant is
in effect. During a challenge, pledge phones ring more often, and new
members join at a faster pace.
When you sponsor a challenge grant you multiply the effect of your
contribution, and while a challenge is in effect, your name or the
name of your company or organization is mentioned repeatedly on the air.
Take a leadership role in supporting HPR by making a challenge grant
during the next Hawaii Public Radio pledge drive. Call Valerie
Yee at (808) 955-8821 or email
vyee@hawaiipublicradio.org.

simply writing a check can offer tax benefits that are twofold:

Include HPR In Your Estate Planning
The term "estate planning" means different things to different people.
After taking care of family, friends, and your own economic security, you
may choose to make charitable gifts from the remaining assets.
This can be accomplished through a bequest in your will, a remainder interest in
a revocable living trust, a beneficiary designation of life insurance
proceeds, or numerous other methods, many of which offer tax
savings and other financial benefits.
Consider including Hawaii Public Radio in your will, trust, or estate
plans. Your thoughtful choice will help assure the future of public
radio here in the Hawaiian Islands. To learn more, call Valerie Yee
at (808) 955-8821 or email
vyee@hawaiipublicradio.org.

Become An Underwriter - Program Sponsor
Individuals, businesses, and community organizations can support Hawaii
Public Radio by sponsoring, or underwriting, programming. When you
underwrite a program, HPR makes an on-air announcement that
begins, “Support for [program name] comes from [your name or company
name],” followed by a brief message.
Underwriting is a way to communicate your message to the loyal,
informed, and influential Hawaii Public Radio audience. A
survey conducted on behalf of NPR found that 88% of listeners agreed
with the statement, "Your opinion of a company is more positive when you
find out it supports public radio." (Source: Edison Media Research,
2003)
