Gifts from Station Members
This enterprise is created and sustained by the individuals, families and businesses which support the station’s work through their annual station membership gifts. HPR was founded in 1981 as an independent, locally-operated, community-funded broadcast service and continues to thrive as such to this day thanks to the generosity of our members who provide the lion’s share of the programming and operating funds required to operate the network. We are deeply grateful for the extraordinary generosity of each of our station members. Listed here are membership gifts of $360 or more received between January 1, 2012 and January 31, 2013.

HPR Legacy Society & Endowment Gifts
These donors wish to ensure HPR’s future with a gift in the form of a bequest, an estate gift, or a gift for the network’s endowment fund. Pledge Drive Business Support Circle
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of station members, HPR spends less time fundraising on the air than public radio stations elsewhere. We thank our Business Support Circle for your generosity and participation in the form of fielding teams of volunteers to answer phones; providing volunteer meals; contributing thank you gifts; and more. read more
Program Sponsorship & Foundation Support
HPR is truly locally managed and locally funded, a critical function of our independence. Aside from the individuals who contribute 65% of HPR’s operating funds, the single outstanding group of HPR supporters are the program sponsors (underwriters) and foundations who support the programming and station operations not only with financial generosity but choose to affiliate their names with the public radio community. Together they make up 25% of HPR’s support, and we are very grateful to every one of them. read more
There’s nothing more impressive than watching an entire community pull together in order to achieve a specific goal. In this case, the June 2012 announcement that the FCC had issued a short-term construction permit for KHPH 88.7 FM in Kailua-Kona that had to be on the air by April 2013 galvanized the West Hawaii community. Here is the honor roll of residents and local businesses who contributed to the West Hawaii Transmitter Project, ensuring that it went on the air Thursday, February 14, 2013. It’s your station!.. read more
