July 4th, Hawaiian Style: It’s a Blast!

On O'ahu, the Kailua fireworks display is back! And communities across the state are gearing up for their own 4th of July festivities.  HPR’s Noe Tanigawa reports.

KAILUA 4th OF JULY INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE, sponsored by Kailua Chamber of Commerce,  will have 200 marchers, 40 vehicles, 40 floats, & 4 bands It will start at Kainalu Dr./Palapu St., to Kainalu Drive, to end at Kailua Intermediate School.   For More info, visit their website:  www.kailuachamber.com

KAILUA 4th OF JULY FIREWORKS:  8pm off Kailua Beach Park  http://kailuafireworks.ning.com/

ALA MOANA 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS:   8:30-8:50pm, sponsored by Ala Moana Shopping Center/General Growth.  Show will be off Magic Island, Ala Moana Beach Park. Vehicles will be prohibited in Ala Moana Park from 10 pm Tuesday, 7/3 until 4 am Wednesday, 7/4. Various traffic controls will be instituted by HPD at end of fireworks show.

PARKER RANCH RODEO, runs 9am to noon, at the Parker Ranch Arena in Waimea. Children 10 and under free, others $5 in advance, $6 at the door.  808-885-7311

MAKAWAO 4TH OF JULY PARADE AND RODEO
The historic town of Makawao holds their annual parade and rodeo that celebrates Independence Day and their ranching history. The parade starts at 9am from the lower end of Baldwin Avenue and ends at the Eddie Tam Center on Makawao Avenue. For parade information, call 808-572-9565.

In Lahaina, fireworks will be visible from along the sea wall on Front Street, starting at 8pm.
