The infamous "Charlie Schmidt's Keyboard Cat!" on YouTube

Cats took center stage this summer at the Walker Art Center’s Internet Cat Video Festival in Minneapolis. Over 10,000 people turned up. It was such a success, organizers decided to take it on the road for a 20-city tour, with Honolulu being its first stop. HPR’s Molly Solomon has more.

The week-long Internet Cat Video Festival kicks off this Saturday, September 7,  at theHonolulu Museum of Art’s Doris Duke Theatre. In addition to the films, festival activities include a Cat Costume Contest and a photo contest on Instagram. Guests can also show off their own kitty’s antics by uploading the cutest, wackiest or funniest videos to their Instagram account and tagging #catvidfestHI for a chance to win a basic museum membership. Check out the Honolulu Museum of Art website for a full list of events.
