Michael Wooten, AKA David Gardner , is a former sergeant in the U.S. Army and a University of California Berkeley graduate. He came to Hawaii with Teach For America in 2008 and earned his master's degree in education from the University of Hawaii. He still teaches English and film at James Campbell High School in Ewa Beach under his real name.

Jimmy Trujillo is the Chair of the Kauai Beekeepers Association, helped to start the Bee Lab and teaches apiary classes at Kaua'i Community College. He got his first hive in 2008 and now has 20 hives in several apiaries. He harvests and sells honey, beeswax and products made from processed beeswax. He also sells hives and removes unwanted bees from odd locations, helps other beekeepers manage their bees and lease hives for pollinating purposes. >> The bill vital to Hawaii's Honeybee Industry
