This year marks the twenty fifth celebration for the Elliot Cades Awards for Literature in Hawai’i. Both winners this year are from Hawai’i Island. Pam Frierson is being honored for her work, including “The Last Atoll”, a multi-layered history of the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. HPR’s Noe Tanigawa spoke with Cades Award winner Mark Panek.
Mark Panek will appear at 2pm Saturday at the Hawai’i Book and Music Festival on the grounds of Honolulu Hale. The Book and Music Festival is Hawai’i’s largest celebration of its kind, with a keiki stage and read aloud pavilion, music and hula at the Hawai’i Pavillion, fascinating discussions about current issues, and writers from across the islands.
