Genetically Engineered Food: What do We Know?

This week, HPR is focusing on issues around genetically engineered organisms, and today, HPR’sNoeTanigawa takes a look at the controversy around their safety in food.  We begin at the two thousand acre Monsanto facility in central O’ahu.

Monsanto Hawai’i has launched a community outreach effort which includes an invitation to visit their facility on O’ahu.

Dr. Peter Davies has been attending community meetings and providing testimony to lawmakers.  He is the independent expert cited in GMOAnswers.com, a website funded by the members of The Council for Biotechnology Information, which includes BASF, Bayer Crop Science, Dow AgroSciences, DuPont, Monsanto Company and Syngenta.

Center for Food Safety (CFS) is a national non-profit public interest and environmental advocacy organization working to protect human health and the environment.  They support organic and other forms of sustainable agriculture.
