For months, the fissures in the Republican Party have continued to split the GOP. Although the StopTrump movement has itself been stopped, many in it are still wondering how to support a party whose nominee they can’t support. That would seem to be the situation with state representative Beth Fukumoto-Chang. We’ve been speaking with her periodically to get her assessment of the GOP’s future in Hawaii and her personal dislike of the party’s now nominee for President. Beth Fukumoto-Chang joins us by phone.

It’s an ideal bridge, for young theater artists, between the classroom and the professional stage - a theater festival that creates its own theater company and puts together three very different shows in a short span of time.  The results of the work that has been done behind the scenes at the Chaminade University Collegiate Theatre Festival are about to go before the public, and Kevin Berg, one of the festival’s guest directors, is on hand to tell us more.

We called a longtime resident and community activist who has spent most of the past five decades involved in the planning of Maui County. Dick Mayer is on the line with some of the contests he’s watching and why.

Children find it easy to leap into fantastical new worlds, and we can only envy them. Adults who are able to create such worlds, and bring them to life in performance, have a special gift - and a special skill. Peter Wing and his wife Melinda Wing have made storytelling to children a specialty… they’re presenting a show called “Mythical Magical Creatures, Stories and Songs” at the Kihei Public Library later this week, and Peter is on the line.
