Over the weekend, Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa had high praise for county workers particularly the firefighters who managed to prevent even more catastrophic losses to our community.

And also kudos to the Board of Water Supply workers who hiked tough terrain during the height of the storm putting themselves at risk to maintain basic services.

Kauai Mayor Bernard Carvalho was worried like all of us here on Oahu.

Across the state there was a lot of uncertainty and a lot of anxiety as we began to see the floodwaters rise and the fires claim homes on the Big Island and Maui.

On the rest of the islands, many of were wringing our hands worried about getting our share of storm damage. But, HPR’s Kuuwehi Hiraishi shares some of the stress relieving action that was going on.
