A life without shelter is a life that’s at risk of any number of medical conditions, with minimal access to care. Students at the John A. Burns School of Medicine care for as many as they can through the school’s Homeless Outreach and Medical Education Project and the acronym says it all… these problems are quite literally close to home.   Dr. Jill Omori, who runs the H.O.M.E. Project, joined us in studio to tell us about the program and its goals.

All this week, we've talked with people from different communities around the country and some of the leading national voices working to end homelessness. While there is no singular solution that will work for all faces of homelessness, the nexus of all solutions seems to be housing. To which Jennifer Ho would add First. She is the Senior Advisor for Housing and Services to U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro. A Housing First approach is the bedrock of the all the strategies to end homelessness that her department is advancing. Jennifer Ho joined the show via phone from her office in Washington.
