Surfing Meets Snow in Gerry Lopez Big Wave Challenge

Hawaii’s own Gerry Lopez, also known as Mr. Pipeline, was a pioneer in the early days of big wave surfing. Later in life, he found a new passion: snowboarding. At Oregon’s Mount Bachelor, Lopez developed a snowboarding contest inspired by his favorite surf spots from around the globe.

Advance Healthcare Directives are better known by a different name: living wills. Having one can spare loved ones from going through an agonizing and difficult decision process in the event of a serious health incident.

Chinatown Walking Tour

Not too long ago, we took part in a walking tour of Honolulu’s Chinatown Historic District. We tagged along with AARP members as part of a series of events sponsored by the organization. It’s a popular tour regularly offered through the Hawaii Heritage Center. Longtime volunteer Director Karen Motosue gave our group a VIP tour.
