Sequestration Cuts Could Impact Hawaii Meals on Wheels

Budget fights are continuing in Washington this week. The jury’s still out on what the impact of Friday’s so called sequestration will be for Hawaii. But it’s left many of the state’s non-profits worried about the loss in federal funding. HPR’s Molly Solomon spoke with one organization and has this report.

New Study Says Leatherback Sea Turtle Headed Towards Extinction

The leatherback sea turtle is the largest marine turtle in the world.  Some can grow up to six feet in length and weigh as much as 2,000 pounds. But a new study shows the population is continuing to decline…possibly to extinction. HPR’s Molly Solomon has this report.

Hawaii Economists Consider Impact Of Minimum Wage Increase

There’s been a lot of talk surrounding the impact of raising the minimum wage. Two proposed bills in the legislation have the support of Governor Abercrombie, and could bump up our current minimum wage to $8.75 an hour.
