The 35th anniversary of the Maui County Senior Fair is from 8 am to noon at the War Memorial Complex in Wailuku. Headlining the entertainment will be Frank DeLima. The fair features kupuna support agencies as well as entertainment, food and more.

to artists for "The 10th International Shoebox Sculpture Exhibition."
Entries must be received by August 29, 2008. Organized by the University of
Hawaii Art Gallery, this triennial traveling exhibition is intended to serve
as a vehicle of communication among sculptors in many parts of the world.
Central to the exhibition’s concept is the challenge of creating works on a
small scale which maintain integrity and control of sculptural elements. By
considering the size of a shoebox, artists show how they address the
challenge of scale. Open to artists worldwide. No entry fee. An exhibition
catalogue will be published. Initial exhibition at the University of Hawaii
Art Gallery to be held March 1 – April 9, 2009. For more information and

OCTOBER 4: The Maui Arts & Cultural Center announces the third triennial Schaefer Portrait Challenge, an exhibit scheduled for January 2009. This statewide-juried art exhibition features artists whose work best captures the extraordinary heroes and portrait subjects in Hawai`i. A prospectus is available online at www.mauiarts.org
Ongoing Community Needs
The Pacific Primate Sanctuary is a refuge in upcountry Maui for small rainforest monkeys rescued from research labs and the pet trade. The monkeys need volunteer animal caregivers to feed and look after them. Call 572-8089 or email pps@aloha.net.
