Melbourne, Australia’s Mojo Jacket is today’s 5:30 interview feature on All Things Considered. They recently opened for Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band across Australia. The group is based around brothers Rick and Ben Fumi, and also includes drummer Benny Stivala. In speaking with HPR's Dave Lawrence, the brothers shared their unique family connection to music, as Ben explains.

The distinctive voice of the band Yes, Jon Anderson, has been a solo artist for several years following a less-than-friendly split with the group. He recently performed an Asia Pacific tour and during it, spoke with HPR’s Dave Lawrence for an interview being featured this afternoon on All Things Considered. In our feature, he explains how the last time he was in the islands, he even did some spontaneous collaborating, right on the beach.

The global success of the suburban Washington, DC reggae band SOJA is itself a remarkable story. Digging deeper in a hotel interview we recorded during their last visit to the islands, band leader Jacob Hemphill shared with HPR’s Dave Lawrence some of his own international experience, and explained how the group’s sound developed.

Robin and Linda Williams are performers who’ve been closely associated with the public radio show A Prairie Home Companion for decades. Ahead of their debut island tour, they explained to HPR’s Dave Lawrence how the pair came together back in 1971.

Next week, Santana performs its first public concerts in the islands in more than a decade. Ahead of the shows, Carlos Santana talked with HPR’s Dave Lawrence. In the second half of our interview, he spoke about the importance of heroes in his life… who have remained consistent through the years.

After a gap of 15 years, Santana are set to return to Hawai`i with a pair of shows going on-sale Saturday. West Valley Isle resident Carlos Santana told HPR's Dave Lawrence today that when his musical career winds down, he plans to spend more time on the other side of Maui.
