During the first week of May, layoff notices were issued to over 500 employees of Hawai`i's largest newspaper, the Honolulu Advertiser. Since then, the Advertiser has merged with the Honolulu Star Bulletin. Some former employees have been hired by the new Star Advertiser, while others are forging lives elsewhere. HPR's Noe Tanigawa takes you to an art exhibit by former Honolulu Advertiser employees.
"CathARTic!," a show by former Honolulu Advertiser employees, continues
at the Louis Pohl Gallery through July 17th. There's jewelry by Beverly
Creamer, furniture by Chris Oliver, colorful new work by Paula Rath and
the new mu`umu`u note designs by Wayne Harada. This Friday, all the
artists, except Harada who is travelling, will gather for a Friday with
Friends from 5 to 8 pm at the Louis Pohl Gallery.
