  • The Mele Mei Festival presents the inaugural `Ukulele, Slack & Steel Jam.  This event boasts an all-star line-up of `ukulele and slack key artists and will be held at the bandstand in Kapi`olani Park from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Free.

A number of unique painting formats developed in China that were radically different than the oil paintings on framed canvases that eventually became standard in Europe.   • TODAY THROUGH JULY 7: Giovanni Battista Piranesi worked as a printmaker, designer, architect, archaeologist, and theorist in Italy during the 18th century. He produced more than 1,000 etchings and engravings of various places and objects, real and imagined. The Honolulu Museum of Art exhibit Antiquity in the 18th Century: Piranesi’s Views of Rome includes 135 plates that were issued throughout the artist’s lifetime.
