The University of Hawaii announced record enrollment for the spring semester - up almost 10% from last year. But some of those students don't fit the typical college mold. HPR's Ben Markus reports if that's you - and you're a woman - the AARP might be able to help.
Tomorrow the State Land Use Commission will hear arguments regarding the fate of more than 200 acres of North Shore land. Developers have unsuccessfully tried to develop the land adjacent Turtle Bay Resort for more than 2 decades. And now local environmental groups want to stop any future plans. Economics of Restaurant Oil Affects Health
Not every french fry is created equal. A University of Hawaii study found that economics drives which oil restaurants chose to fry their potatoes in. And as HPR's Ben Markus reports that may have implications for your health.
Volunteers and outreach workers across the state will start counting Hawaii's homeless population today. The so-called Point-in-Time count is a kind of census for the homeless. It's required by the federal government to assess how much aid money goes where. HPR's Ben Markus has more.
It's been a year since Hawaii TV stations switched to digital broadcasts. Hawaii was one of the first locations in the country to make the transition. Broadcasters spent millions and still, some people are without their beloved channels. HPR's Ben Markus has this update.
Marijuana is always a hot issue, especially on the Big Island. But lately, things have been heating up even more. A national drug legalization group is visiting some members of the County Council before they vote on a resolution to consider decriminalization. HPR's Ben Markus has more.

Prison Responds to Allegations of Sex Abuse
Following the recent removal of Hawaii inmates, the state of Kentucky announced it's removing all prisoners from the same female detention center. Inmates from both states have alleged sexual abuse at the prison. HPR's Ben Markus has more.
