Taj Mahal has been a force in music for decades: from the late 60’s, when he was featured in “The Rolling Stones’ Rock N’ Roll Circus” film, to opening for the 2011 Wynton Marsalis/Eric Clapton summit. Ahead of three island shows, the one-time Garden Isle resident talked story with HPR’s Dave Lawrence.
Taj Mahal performs Thursday October 13 at Hawaiian Brian's in Honolulu, Friday October 14 at the MACC in Kahului, and Saturday October 15 at the Honoka`a Peoples Theatre. Find out more at his website, tajblues.com. See a video of him live earlier this month below.
HPR-1 has been partially restored to O'ahu's North Shore and much of Kaua'i; we are working on an electrical problem at the Mt. Ka'ala site and once that's been resolved, repairs can be made to restore full HPR-1 signal strength. All other transmitters are operating normally.

Note on Hawaiian spellings:
In our print communications, HPR takes special care to include the ʻokina (glottal stop) and kahakō (macron) marks used in the proper spelling of Hawaiian words.
