A Summer Morning on the Beach in Waikiki---Where We All Should Be

ShareThisAt 7:30 on any weekday morning, while many of us are caught in lines of traffic, waves are breaking off Waikiki luring the lucky into the water. HPR’s Noe Tanigawa caught up with a few of them, fresh from the summer surf yesterday at Canoes, that famous surf spot across the Hyatt in Waikiki. The Hawai’i Tourism Authority and Kyoya Company have announced a plan to recover sand from offshore and replenish Waikiki Beach from the Duke Kahanamoku Statue to the Royal Hawaiian. The 2.4 million dollar project is set to begin late this year or early 2012, and take 2 months to complete.
