Lois Ann Yamanaka’s breakout book of poetry, Saturday Night at the Pahala Theatre, was met with something like amazement locally and across the nation. It received several awards including the Pushcart Prize for poetry and introduced the nation to family life in a remote part of Hawai’i. Now the stage adaptation is making waves in the local entertainment scene. HPR’s Noe Tanigawa reports.
