Same Sex Couples Seek Legal Status

ShareThisA lawsuit was filed yesterday on behalf of six gay and lesbian couples seeking to overturn Governor Lingle's veto of the Civil Unions bill three weeks ago. Lamda Legal Senior Counsel Jennifer Pizer said the lawsuit is asking the First Circuit Court to grant legal status for same-sex couples.
Pizer emphasized the lawsuit is seeking a separate legal system that does not exist in Hawaii.

Pizer, American Civil Liberties Union attornery Dan Gluck and two of the plaintiffs, Tambry Young and Suzanne King were guests last night on KIPO's Town Square. You can hear that conversation with host Beth-Ann Kozlovich by going to the talk show archives at hawaiipublicradio.org.
