Americana/folk artist David Bromberg is playing a short tour of the islands. Known for collaborations with artists from Bob Dylan to members of the Beatles, he called HPR’s Dave Lawrence to talk about some of those projects, and a few island connections.
David Bromberg plays the Iao Theatre on Maui Friday, before moving on to a pair of Big Island performances Saturday at the Royal Kona Resort and Sunday at the Palace Theatre in Hilo. His website is davidbromberg.net. Below hear our complete interview and see some live videos of him playing the songs used in our feature.
HPR-1 has been partially restored to O'ahu's North Shore and much of Kaua'i; we are working on an electrical problem at the Mt. Ka'ala site and once that's been resolved, repairs can be made to restore full HPR-1 signal strength. All other transmitters are operating normally.

Note on Hawaiian spellings:
In our print communications, HPR takes special care to include the ʻokina (glottal stop) and kahakō (macron) marks used in the proper spelling of Hawaiian words.
