UH Hilo is in the midst of presenting the Poetry and Blues Project, featuring writer Quincy Troupe, who worked on Miles Davis’ autobiography. HPR’s Dave Lawrence spoke with one of the performers, guitarist Kelvyn Bell, known for funk/rock fusion act Defunkt. He gave credit to a collaborative artistic environment in St. Louis for nurturing his creative approach.
Quincy Troupe, Kelvyn Bell, Oliver Jackson, Lois Ann Yamanaka and others do part two of the Poetry and Blues Project Friday from 6 to 8pm at the UH Hilo Campus Center. Check out Kelvyn online at kelvynator.com and get event info at sites.google.com/site/poetryandbluesproject.
