Joyce Yang, gaining momentum as the most gifted pianist of her generation
ShareThisPianist Joyce Yang graduated from Julliard last year with the Artur Rubinstein Prize and an Avery Fisher career grant, but she’s already been performing for over a decade to terrific reviews. Before her Hawai’i tour, HPR’s Noe Tanigawa asked about some secrets of her success. The youngest contestant in the ’05 Van Cliburn competition, she was the silver medalist and all around winner, taking best performance of new work and best chamber performance. What's great is, the quartet she won the competition with, the Takacs Quartet, will be here performing with her at most venues.
Joyce Yang performs in Hilo Sunday March 6th then travels to Waimea, Kahului, Honolulu and Lihu’e. Check www.pianistjoyceyang.com for a full schedule and to hear samples of her performances. Yang performs a solo concert Friday, March 11, 7:30pm in Orvis Auditorium. Find tickets for that one at www.etickethawaii.com or at any UH Ticket outlet.
