County Council Hears Water Options; Details on Waiting List for Water Meters; Charity Walk Reports Results
The director of Maui’s Department of Water Supply says it’s up to the County Council to set the direction for renewing and expanding the island’s water sources and infrastructure. The council kept pressing for details. For The Maui News, Ron Youngblood reports.
There are 1,300 names on a waiting list for Upcountry water meters. The list was first complied decades ago, partly to control development in the area stretching from Pauwela --- across Makawao and Kula --- to Ulupalakua. For The Maui News, Ron Youngblood reports.
The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association yesterday announced its annual charity walk raised $492,000 for nonprofits on the island. The “Charity Walk Inspiration Award” went to an eight-year-old boy.
