James Foster, PhD is a geodesist specializing on the applications of GPS measurements to earth systems. Current projects include mapping ground motion on Kilauea and Mauna Loa volcanoes, the determination of vertical land motion at tide-gauges and its impact on local sea level changes, and the use of ship-based GPS for tsunami detection and meteorological and oceanographic measurements.
