Voter Owned Hawaii is a non-partisan nonprofit working to upgrade and modernize Hawaii's partial public funding program for elections. The Hawaii Policy Portal is an online advocacy platform where organizations and citizens can make their perspectives known to influence decision makers. HB 1481 will be heard by the Committee on Finance, Thursday afternoon.

Senator Hirono was born in Fukushima, Japan and graduated from Kaimuki High School, University of Hawaii, Manoa, and Georgetown University. She was a member of the Hawaii state house of representatives from 1981-1994 and Hawaii lieutenant governor from 1994-2002. She was elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Tenth and to the two succeeding Congresses and was not a candidate for reelection to the House of Representatives but was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate in 2012 for the term ending January 3, 2019.
