A coral theory to stand a few scientists on their heads.

Hollie Putnam is a PhD candidate at UHM and lead author of the reef repair  study. Her  research focuses on the diversity of unicellular algae and coral performance, and the  potential of reef-building adult corals and their larvae to acclimatize to stressors of increased temperature and changes in seawater chemistry.

Making room for aloha in New York City

TeMoana Makolo was born and raised on O'ahu and grew up surrounded hula and  her aunties Leilani and Puanani Alama. TeMoana worked in the renowned Hawaiian Room in the 1960's, in the years just prior to its closing in 1966.  A series of public programs, including the multi-media exhibit The Hawaiian Room: Dine, Dance, Romance, The Lexington is open at Honolulu Hale on the Mezzanine level through Friday, September 21. The exhibit will then move to Windward Community College's new library and commons building.
