The new China: Capitalizing on capitalism
Christopher McNally is an Associate Professor of Political Economy at Chaminade University and Nonresident Fellow at the East-West Center. His research focuses on the nature and logic of China’s capitalist transition. He is also working on a research project that studies the implications of China’s capitalist reemergence on the global order.
Bruce Hamada is a bassist whose trio will accompany alto saxophonist Andrew Speight Saturday for a 7:30 pm performance at Studio 909 in Honolulu.
Hauling ashtray outta the parks
Stanley Chang represent District 4, Ala Moana to Hawaii Kai, on the Honolulu City Council. He recently introduced Bill 72 which would prohibit smoking at beaches and parks in Waikiki, Ala Moana and Sandy Beach Park.
Alexis Dascoulias is the director of the Maui OnStage production of “The Wizard of Oz,” running through December 9 at the Iao Theater.
