A Senate bill to create County compassion centers for the distribution and sale of medical marijuana cleared its first hurdle. The joint Pubic Safety and Health Committees passed the measure... which included a distance restriction of 50 miles separation between centers and not closer than 2 miles from any school. Health Committee Chair Ryan Yamane also changed and defined tax provisions.

he measure also requires 5 years of record keeping and regulated access for tourists. The bill now goes to the House Judiciary Committee where it is expected to meet greater opposition.
