February 4 – Rick Smith and the Trailer Park Romeos – The stripped down Chicago
Blues of the 50s charge into HPR’s Atherton. Rick Smith on slide and regular guitar and
vocals; Corey Funai on harmonicas and vocals; Ian Chames on stand up electric
bass; and Dobbs on drums, along with Sean Harrison on acoustic and electric

February 11 – The PBS Little Big Band - Trumpeters Phil and Bob Scellato lead this popular big band that has been performing in and around Honolulu since 2004. Big sounds in the intimate Atherton. The band delights in a variety of styles
including big band swing, blues, funk, and Dixieland. |

February 18 – Marco Lienhard – The renowned taiko and shakuhachi master returns for his third concert in the Atherton. Lienhard has performed more than 3000 concerts in Europe, Oceania, Asia and North and South America with appearances at some of the world’s most prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Boston Symphony Hall. The concert, covering an eclectic range of Shakuhachi music including
folk songs and improvisation on traditional works, plus Buddhist
Honkyoku meditation music performed on different kinds of flutes, will
also make an excursion into taiko drumming. The evening will reflect a journey through a
musical landscape of Japan. |
