Annual Book Sale Benefits Hawai`i Libraries

If you’re a book-lover in Hawaii, pickings can be slim. With the closing of Borders last year and a lack of used bookstores, searching for a good read is becoming more of a challenge.

But an upcoming event by Friends of the Library Hawaii will cheer up your inner bookworm.

The annual “Friends, Books, Music – The Sale” event will take place over the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend. It’s expected to have more than 15,000 books and 10,000 records and CDs.

Byrde Cestare is the Executive Director of Friends of the Library Hawaii. She’s especially looking forward to the collection of records that will be on sale.

The sale will be held in Kaka’ako, near the end of Forrest Avenue on the makai side of Ala Moana Boulevard.

All book sale proceeds will help to support Hawaii’s 50 libraries.
