To Afghanistan and Back: Troops Reunite with Loved Ones in Hawai`i
Nearly 35-hundred troops attended a ceremony at Schofield Barracks officially welcoming them back to American soil. After a year-long deployment on some of Afghanistan’s most volatile turf, soldiers and family members share some of their biggest challenges over the past year and thoughts upon returning to Hawai`i.
Audio includes comments from Brittany King, Christine and Charles Austin, Lieutenant Colonel Colin Tuley and his wife Jin Tuley, and Elizabeth Van Otten.
During the year in Afghanistan the Bronco Brigade lost 20 Soldiers on the battle field and 260 Soldiers were wounded in action.
The 35-hundred member unit is scheduled to return to Afghanistan sometime next spring.
